Joint Information Exchange Environment (JIEE)
JIEE is the operations management 'desktop' solution for the National Guard Bureau's Joint Operations Center in Crystal City VA, and is also deployed to operations centers in all 54 states and territories. JIEE is an information collection, collation, management, dissemination, and archival solution used to assist decision makers to: 1) gather and employ the right amount of the right information to enable rapid, accurate decision making, and 2) enable the allocation of scarce resources to the location of greatest need, and have them there at the time needed.
KSI's goal is to provide technology solutions to our clients' real-world and near-term operational problems. JIEE is an outstanding example of our success in achieving that goal - but we're not done. Future versions of JIEE will add successively more features and functionality, and between version releases we will continue to 'tweak' JIEE in response to user feedback and client requirements.
These ambitious objectives are at the heart of JIEE architecture, features, and functionality. JIEE includes event tracking and management tools, Request for Information (RFI) and Request for Action (RFA) formats, an integrated GIS system upon which data layers can be added on the fly, full search capability, an automated duty log and SITREP, resources availability and tracking tools, and many other capabilities that are essential to effective and comprehensive operations management in emergency and non-emergency situations.
IT Investment Planning and Analysis
The Information Technology Management Reform Act of 1996 and the Federal Acquisition Reform Act (FARA) of 1996 were combined to become the Clinger-Cohen Act of 1996 (CCA) and federal law. It is designed to improve the way the federal government acquires and manages information technology (IT). It requires the Department and individual programs to use performance based management principles such as planning of major IT investments; process revision before investment; accountability, standards, commercial technology, and modular contracting before acquiring IT.
The Act generated a number of significant changes in the roles and responsibilities of various Federal agencies in managing acquisition of IT, including NSS; it elevated oversight responsibility to the Director, OMB, and established and gave oversight responsibilities to the departmental CIO offices.
Koniag Services, Inc. (KSI) provides detailed and comprehensive support to agencies responding to OMB’s demanding capital planning and investment control (CPIC) requirements. Our expertise includes project management, budget analysis, risk management, CPIC requirements and methodologies, requirements analysis, business and operational analysis, and IT management. These capabilities combine to generate significant enterprise-level IT investment management advantages for our clients.
Assistive Technologies and Services (AT&S)
KSI is contracted to provide the Social Security Administration (SSA) with assistive technology (AT) hardware, software, maintenance and support services. The SSA currently has approximately 1,650 employees with disabilities (EWD) working among SSA's over 2,000 locations worldwide. Each EWD has a LAN attached workstation and various AT hardware and software. Over 7,000 AT devices are installed at SSA locations.
KSI provides the necessary services to support SSA's existing and future EWD. KSI provides AT hardware and software, installation, maintenance, and support. In order to accomplish these tasks, KSI provides the services of a Program Management Group (PMG), an Engineering Support Center (ESC), an Assistive Technolgies Help Desk (ATHD), a nationwide infrastructure of qualified field technicians, and a storage warehouse.
The PMG is responsible for tactical planning and operational coordination with SSA, scheduling of delivery orders, technical review of all delivery orders, quality assurance, reporting, deliverables, inventory, and subcontractor management.
The ESC provides technical expertise with AT and performs the required testing, integration, and configuration of new/upgraded components. The ESC coordinates with SSA personnel, other contract personnel, and vendors to ensure knowledge of the market status of state-of-the-art improvements in assistive technologies. The ESC is made up of skilled technicians experienced with AT and direct, hands-on support of users of AT. The ESC also develops and documents procedures and automations for the deployment of AT, and provides third-tier ATHD support, and support for field technicians.
The ATHD provides SSA’s EWD and support personnel with high level technical support of all SSA-approved hardware and software used by EWD. Level one call center support and level two problem determination and resolution are the responsibility of the ATHD.
The nationwide infrastructure of qualified field technicians enables KSI to provide on-site support and maintenance to SSA’s locations throughout the United States and its territories. These technicians coordinate with the ESC, which in turn coordinate with the PMG and SSA personnel to schedule site visits for installation and maintenance services.
The warehouse stores and tracks three months of SSA ordered inventory, as well as any inventory needed for special projects such as workstation refreshment. The warehouse records inventory data and applies and records SSA bar codes to equipment as necessary.
